Thank you Grace for an excellent article. I, too, took a chance with Sovaldi and Olysio before they were FDA approved together (and I did have a number of side effects) but it was also my life jacket at the time and I willingly signed the paper that said I knew the prescriber was giving it to me "off label". Very glad that I did or I don't think I would still be here (cirrhosis since 1997). We all have to make the best decisions for ourselves and treatment after we have taken the time to truly educate ourselves and ask our doctors good questions. As you said, these drugs are still "quite new" but for some of us, they are truly life savers and worth some of the risks. Thanks again!
I'm on Viekira Pak and I read the warning that it is not suitable for people with decompensated liver disease. Thankfully my liver is in good shape. But I agree we are all guinea pigs. I'm happy to take some risk for the chance at a cure.

Ms. Campbell thanks for this most excellent disclosure regarding your drug treatment and subsequent results. It's often a case of 20/20 HINDSIGHT when we reflect on our un-chartered journies through various drug treatments.
