Innovations in NAFLD Care (INCBCN) Workshop 2024
Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is estimated to affect 33% of the world’s population. Given the association between NAFLD and the growing global epidemics of obesity and type 2 diabetes, this number is expected to increase. Despite this high prevalence, there remain challenges in screening, as only a minority of cases are diagnosed and correctly treated. Therefore, there is a growing need to design and implement comprehensive models of care. The cascade of care for the diagnosis and treatment of NAFLD requires a multidisciplinary approach, with the development of patient-centric structures and systems that facilitate the coordination and integration of services delivered at different levels of healthcare systems. This workshop provides a platform to bring together the relevant stakeholders and patients to optimize NAFLD care. The 2-day program explores the different perspectives that healthcare professionals and patients with NAFLD face daily. It will highlight where healthcare providers and policy-makers can implement the most comprehensive models of NAFLD care.
