Hi Barbara, Thank you for your comment on my blog. I recommend you join the Hep Forums (http://forums.hepmag.com) for asking questions around living with and treating hepatitis C. There is lots of good information there, including discussion of the intense reaction that sun can cause if you are taking Olysio. The forums are monitored 24x7 and you will find many folks willing to share their knowledge and experience. Peace and Health, Lucinda

I seem to be having a reaction to the drugs themselves. I thought at first it was the sun, but I now think it must be the drugs. Anything that can be done so I can continue treatment? I am taking Solvaldi and Olysio.

I am a GT 1a that was hospitalized due to complications from Peg/Ribavirin in 2004 and taken off treatment. I am now in the final phase of assistance approval for my copay for Olysio/Sovaldi/Ribavirin. All over the blogs I see people who are just on the Olysio/ Sovaldi without Ribavirin. Since I will be starting Tx soon what information can I give my doctor to leave out the Ribavirin if it isn't necessary. I don't have all my bloodwork in hand but I do know my platelets are low. I don't have cirrhosis. I am afraid that we will never know what shot my nervous system down in 2004 from treatment, putting my body into violent spasm, but I fear the Ribavirin played a role and don't want to go there again. Anything that can help is appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the sun sensitivity info. My doc and his N.P. told me about it. I purchased sleeves that come down 1/2 way onto the hand, and have a hole for the thumb. Also a floppy U.V. hat and a long sleeved shirt. I bought one of the cheaper sunscreens, and it seems to work. Only 5-days left of tx on Olysio/Solvaldi. Virus cleared at about 5 wks. What a miracle!
