True, but improvements in treatment are being made all the time. The PBAC is currently looking at zepatier and although it's not for geno 2, so much research is happening a change will be sure to come. I had to do 24 weeks of riba - trust me, I've done my time in the ribavirin salt mines. I was lucky though - it worked and I'm now srv 24.

Don't pat yourself on the back too early. I am an Australian women with hepatitis c but there is no treatment for genotype 2 HVC. Type 2 makes up 10% in Australia. Type 1 and 3 are more common in Australia. To save money the govt has given the new drugs to type 1 and 3. While type 2 s are only given ONE, of the new drugs (sovaldi) and forced to take Ribavirin. Ribavirin has severe side effects, and many people can't take it. Some are being treated with new DAAV but not all.
