I started treatment for Hep C on 4/15/14 with a 12 week course of Sovaldi and Olysio. I have also had type 1 diabetes for 39 years. The first three days of treatment I had some elevated blood sugars, but my control using an insulin pump has improved since then. At 2 weeks my viral load was down to 18 from over 7 million and at 4 weeks the virus was undetected. To qualify for medical necessity, I had to submit proof of stage 3 fibrosis after an initial denial by my insurance company.
