Launch-Hep C Rapid Testing at CVS Minute Clinics in Hawaii
All CVS Minute Clinics in Hawaii now offer rapid tests for hepatitis C antibody. These rapid tests only require a fingerprick (rather than a blood draw), and results are available in 20 minutes. The tests will be covered by insurance plans in Hawaii, with no cost-sharing for patients. The Hawaii Department of Health and Hep Free Hawaii partnered with CVS Longs to launch this service in recognition of the increasing role of non-traditional healthcare services among pharmacies and non-urgent care clinics. In May, all CVS Longs pharmacies in the state will also initiate a program to provide free hepatitis B and C risk assessments and referrals to primary care and/or Minute Clinics for appropriate testing.
