Emerging Trends in Alcoholic Hepatitis
Alcohol abuse exacts a major toll on health and health costs in the United States and hepatologists are at the forefront of treating patients with alcoholic liver disease. Major advances have been made over the past decade concerning better diagnostic and prognostic indicators, mechanisms for disease development/progression including factors such as the liver-brain axis, complicating factors and comorbid diseases, as well as new interventions such as liver transplantation.
This program is designed to highlight advances in the translational aspects of recent basic research discoveries to promote clinical application and new research findings. In addition, controversies and emerging trends in the definition and diagnosis of alcoholic liver disease and alcoholic hepatitis will be identified and discussed.
