NS3/4A Protease Inhibitors (PIs)

Protease inhibitors (PIs) block a protein that plays a critical role in HCV replication: They bind to the viral protease, which is responsible for processing viral proteins. Incivek and Victrelis were the first generation of HCV protease inhibitors, followed by Olysio. PIs are no longer used in the United States to treat hepatitis C.
