Who know how long I've had hep C and am tired of beating myself up trying to pinpoint. I don't use drugs, no tats, and only can say I'm a baby boomer and move on. I knowingly did a watchful wait for Gilead to get Harvoni on the market. Kaiser was getting it for patients in January 2015 and hadn't decided if it was going to be for those with cirrhosis or stage 3 and 4 only. You need to be your own advocate as I was and insistence even though I am a low viral load and stage 2. My Dr agreed that he would start me within 6 mos if I stopped drinking ( occasionally enjoy wine with a meal ) and took random pee tests during that 6 mos. period. Called him last month and said I was ready to jump start and he agreed. The pharmacist called and went through with me all my meds and did the research and got the approval for me. All done...$130 for the first 2 weeks and $30 for each of the weeks to come...( $100 was because it's not a generic drug )so for $220 I'm going to be cured. Started Harvoni and only 3 weeks in but haven't had any adverse effect at all. I feel great especially since I know I'm kicking this virus permanently! I will have blood test on June 15 and know I'm going to "nail it" and am on a 8 week program...so July 14 can't come soon enough for me. Feel great and so thankful for Harvoni and go Gilead! Thank you Kaiser and my wonderful Dr and NP. They are the best!

Hi David - See if you are cleared on the Hep Forums so you can get more opinions. I don't know about the combo in Canada, and I don't think I have much to offer on the latest re mutations. Have you read the HCV guidelines? http://www.hcvguidelines.org/full-report-view Not sure that ribavirin would get you much other than side effects.

Hello Lucinda, I have read your comments and your history of Hep C. You have a lot of courage and happy to see you are trying to help others. I have Hep C since I believe the lat 80's and found out on a random blood work in 2000. I was a Peg+ribavin non responder in 2003, Peg + ribavin + teleprivir 2013(it was rough but did 48 weeks) and was told clear of April 2014. Just went in a was checked and the dragon is still there but only a 2 log. They now want me to take Harvoni for 24 weeks but I am worried about mutations and HS5A resistance. I see you used ribavin in your treatment and now your clear. I have also read in the clinical studies 22 out of 22 whom took 24 weeks + ribavin has been 100 percent. Do you happen to know about that combination in Canada? I am not cleared to be on hep forums yet, just waiting on admin approval. Anything new on DNA tests for resistance mutations. I am awaiting paper processing for my insurance and want the best solution going forward. Thanks.
