Cherie, Please forgive me for taking so long to reply. It's been busy as I'm sure you can understand.. I hope that your doctor has been able to give you more news on the lesions. A biopsy is not always best for hepatocellular carcinoma. But they can look at your AFP level which is a blood test. That can show if the lesions are putting out cancer signals. I hope to hear from you regarding this and wish you all the best on your treatment! xo Karen:)

Congratulations on getting treatment! I'm assuming you are SVR and are Hepatitis C Virus free forever! I'm not sure I understand about 24 months. Did you mean weeks? I know this is a rough time for you being on treatment. Getting an MRI report back with lesions is like a kick in the shin. I'm curious to hear what your doctor is saying about this. Did you get a referral to a tumor specialist or radiation oncologist? I hope they will go ahead and treat the lesions just like they would for a person who is not treating. I was finished with treatment when mine were found. You have a lot of options here, and I hope that your talk to your doctor about what they are. Be sure and stay connected with support teams like hepmag for more information about how to make decisions. In it to win it, xo Karen:)

I recently had an MRI which showed:"Two LI-RADS 3 lesions in the right lobe of the liver", "LI-RADS 3 = intermediate probability for hepatocellular carcinoma" I'm on week 5 of Harvoni. Hoping the 24 months of treatment will reverse this.

You put it right. It's hell getting through treatment, but she did it! I'm assuming she is undetected and send my congratulations. Your mom will need some time to just rest and let her body recover from all the drugs. Now that the virus is gone, her liver is getting a much needed break. It is hard to say what side effects she is dealing with. She may not be able to articulate it if she's really sick. A lot of that depends on the health of her liver. If she has cirrhosis, she will def need more time. Ask to go to the doctor with her and find out what they are recommending. She will need a lot of sleep, water, and good food. She may be a little zoney or whiney. I think I have a youtube on this. Maybe she will watch it. You sound like an amazing daughter who is very tuned in to what is going on. I'm sure she trusts you and that is the most important thing. As parents, we don't want to burden our kids and we will withold telling you our needs to protect you. Take care of yourself too honey. I spent the day with my daughter and it is soooo very different than it was a few years ago. This mama is back, and yours will be soon! xo Karen:)
