Hi i was told after my hep b and c treatment that although they had cured the Hep but only down to a specific microscopic count as i had to have a liver transplant, is this true so if you looked more microscopical will it still be there.
That is terrific. Also, I am impressed that your specialists are going to continue to monitor you for liver cancer. Stage 3 fibrosis often gets overlooked, and although your chances of developing liver cnacer are small, it still is the right thing to get monitored annually. If you take care of your health, keep weight under control, etc., its possible that the fibrosis will be gone completely and you will be able to put this behind you.
I just reached the SVR12 point. Prior to treatment my fibrosis score was at F4 (non-cirrhotic) During treatment, score dropped to F3. Really hoping this whole nightmare is behind me. However, my medical team is asking for yearly UltraSounds to screen for Liver Cancer.
Other than reinfection, I've not heard of this happening. There may be rare cases, such as with people with cryoglobulinemia, but I've never heard of a single case of true relapse that late.
Hi Lucinda, How likely is a relapse of Hep C after 2 years SVR? I thought the only way to get it back was reinfection. Thanks Andrew
Anyone out there experiencing with Mercks Zepatier drug?
Thanks helped put the mind at ease.

Ivanmac - Because hep C replicates a trillion times a day, we can say with certainty that although the tests can't measure hep C down to zero, that it is indeed gone - otherwise, it would have replicated. I can't address your hp B because that involves knowing more about whether you had chronic hep B or just an indication of a past infection. However, I would assume that if your doc said you are cured, then you are cured.
