My heart goes out to you. I'd much rather be the hepatitis C patient than the caregiver. Here is what I suggest: 1) Don't take it personally. He is scared too and it is probably easier to take it out on those around him. 2) Get information so you know what is going on. 3) Join a support group for caregivers. They exist - there is one on Yahoo Groups and one on Facebook. You can also use the forums her at HEP. 4) Above all else take care of yourself. If you take care of yourself, everything tends to fall into place better.

Hi Lucinda, My husband, Tommie, is getting ready to start treatment today for Hepatitis C. He thought his genotype was 2 and planned on waiting for new treatments, but recently found out he is 1A and has developed the beginning scar tissue of liver cirrhosis. Everything I try to say to encourage him is wrong, if I just listen and say nothing it's wrong and I'm feeling helpless of how to help & support him through this. I appreciate any advice and/or what to expect during this process. Thank you for listening. Sincerely, Melissa
