Larry, that is tough news. Check out blogger Karen Hoyt for first-hand experience from someone who has been through this.
I learned from the VA that I had contracted hep c in 2005. I started what was the beginning of 5 rounds of treatment..from Interferon+ribavirin to recombinant interferon+ribavirin, to interferon+ribavirin+bocepravir, to interferon+ribavirin+sofosbuvir (sovaldi), ending in May of 2015 with Harvoni, except with different dosages than what was normal. I did 24 weeks+ribavirin in order to get my cure. I just got my six month blood test..nothing. I found out last week I have liver cancer.
It seems everyone is getting in on the hep C action. I wonder how the clinicians will respond to such a choice?
Completed my 12 weeks of SOV / DEC for Genotype 3 on Monday. Was undetectable at 8 weeks with normal ast and alt. Now just waiting until April for 3-month follow-up. Slight impact on kidney function (creatinine) was noted during treatment, not considered significant.Hope to hear a lot of success stories this year.
