I am currently on Sovaldi and Ribavirin and having a very bad time with heart palps. I can't imagine whey medical people do not pay attention to this. Thanks Lucinda for posting this, good info.

Hello group, I went to a doctor for Hep C treatment and he advised me that the treatment was asymptomatic. He was reportedly one of the best hepatologist in the city. Needless to say I did not walk but rather ran from his office to find another doctor. My irritability was severe, along with chills and shortness of breath caused by the treatment. I decided to take a short-term disability leave from my job because I deal with the public and did not want to risk being irritable or annoyed with a customer because of the therapy. I must say it is very important to find a doctor you are comfortable with and that addresses your concerns and side effects.

I'm taking ribavirin and can tick off quite a few of those side effects. Honestly they are annoying but not enough to put me or others i know off. Clearly we need an alternative and I am sure it will come in the next round of drug development.

Eight years ago, I was on the combo therapy of interferon (pegintron) and ribavirin. From the second week on for the 48 week treatment, I endured hemolytic anemia. I had a shot of Procrit every week. I am not really sure if it helped much because all my counts continued to be low, but maybe it could have been worse. I worked at my teaching job for the duration of the treatment. Not easy, but was glad I could do it. I had many of the side effects mentioned. The good news is I have been virus negative for Hep C ever since prior to finishing tx. I was exhausted all the time but it was worth it in the long run.

At this point, this has only been tested on mice. We don't even know what route this is administered at, let alone what dose. But wouldn't it be great if it worked?
