This week, the U.S. celebrates Independence Day (hope my international readers can celebrate with me). Freedom is an amazing thing, something that people with hepatitis C long for. Speaking of freedom, this seems like the perfect opportunity to look ahead to another July event - World Hepatitis Day on July 28.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 130-170 million people have chronic HCV, claiming more than 350,000 annual deaths. The countries with the highest prevalence of HCV are Egypt (22%), Pakistan (4.8%) and China (3.2%).

Hepatitis C is a huge worldwide problem, and if we each chip away at it, we can create a world free from hepatitis C. Be an ambassador in this worldwide effort.
