Thank you Grace for stepping forward and speaking out. The stigma of this disease is reminiscent of the early days of HIV and hopefully with people like yourself stepping forward and putting a face to it will help spread the word about testing, treatment and how to stop HCV.
I believe they are thinking of maybe putting it online. If they do, I'll be sure to post a link. Thanks for your kind comments.
Thanks for speaking up. That's very bold and courageous of you. You have exactly the right attitude about it. It will help to destigmatize the disease, and perhaps that will help others to feel better.. Spreading the word about how doable the treatment is will help others to consider treatment, and the more people who get diagnosed and treated, the fewer people infected. I'm in the USA, is there some way I could listen to the broadcast?
Grace
Thanks Robin. Stigma and discrimination breed when people don't challenge it. I haven't in public - for 27 years. For me this is the right time. I totally accept that for others, it may take longer, or they may never be comfortable. To live a full life with this virus is to take up arms against it, too. To not let it define us. As long as we all do that, we are all fighting the virus in one way or another. Go us!
