I've had hep C for 25 years and this past September I got very sick. Results of blood work showed platlets were very low, I started to feel fatigue, having cramps in my extremities and severe itching throughout my body. Saw my primary and was sent to a liver specialist. In November I was approved for Ribavirin 200 mg and sovaldi 400mg. Doctors were not sure if I had cirrhosis and had a MRI which was inconclusive, bilirubin and GGTF kept spiking up. Now I was told to start meds and will be going for cat scan to see if I have some liver autoimmune issue. After I've read all the literature on my prescription, I'm not feeling comfortable taking this meds. I'm not sure of what to do next.
I suggest you contact the Hep C Careline - www.hepatitisc.pafcareline.org
i was on the viekirapak it was perfect for 2 months and then my virus came back. iwas so upset!! so now i was denied harvoni by my insurance company. i dont know what to do? why would they deny someone a drug that can cure this virus? im at fibro stage 1,2 and a low virus count. 1b thanks chris culotta
Isn't is ironic! Wishing you the very best with your treatment.
The new FDA warning is ironic: my health insurer told me that because I was "only" F1-2 they were reserving treatment for F3-4 and others with cirrhosis, thus suggesting I was not sick enough to be treated. The insurer rejected my doctor's appeal twice. We appealed as the patient/insured, provided the insurer with a 10 page letter of journal cites and focused on better results from early treatment. They finally agreed and the Viekera arrived today and I will start treatment next week.
