The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) mailed 1,812 letters to veterans informing them that they may have been exposed to HIV or hepatitis B and C, STLtoday.com reports. The possible exposures occurred during dental work at the St. Louis VA Medical Center from improperly cleaned dental equipment. The letter informs veterans they were at a low risk of infection, but the VA is nonetheless offering free tests for the viruses.
