Thank you for your service. I needed your article to get my spirits up about treatment. I am praying that all goes well for insurance acceptance next week . The wait game for me has been 6 years & from time to time I wonder if I have been right to put off the horrible treatmnets & wait for the breakthrough . Your story was like reading mine...Thanks again !

Good article and good news, there is hope. I too have service-connected HCV (Army 72-74), been symptomatic for a decade, failed treatment once, couldn't get Atlanta VA to return a phone call, just finished 12-week Harvoni treatment through the Bay Pine VA here in Florida. It appears the big business is holding the veteran population hostage (where HCV is epidemic) over the high price of the medication. There is a petition to ask government to break the patent and provide treatment.

R.V. Scheide, You and I had the same feelings about the treatment. I contracted mine in the Marines in 69. And in 1996 I found out about the Hep. I tried the "Old way" and almost killed myself I had fallen down 16 steps backwwards I was so dizzy with the drugs. So in week number 8 I took them back to the VA and said thanks but NO thanks. As of yesterday I started Harvoni I hope I make it this time. I still work at the same job and I hope to be cured of the Hep soon.
