The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has issued a public health order against the Tri-County Spinal Care Center in North Charleston after three patients were diagnosed with acute hepatitis B virus (HBV), the Post and Courier reports. According to the order, each patient received a similar injection at the chiropractic clinic on the same days last February. State officials are investigating the autoclave device used to sterilize medical equipment at the center as a potential cause for the outbreak. DHEC also says 23 other patients might be at risk for hep B. They have ordered the clinic to stop performing all invasive procedures on site until further notice.
