I read that among African Americans there are increased threat of multiple transfusions for sickle-cell anemia and the higher employment of health care workers in poorer communities. There is also a higher incidence of the highly resistant Genotype 1A. A disproportionate of Viet Nam Vets are also infected, quite often African Americans who could not get deferments. These added factors should to be highlighted in literature, etc. in the African American community.
