A former nurse at Exeter Hospital in New Hampshire is suing hospital administrators for wrongful termination, claiming she was falsely linked to a disastrous hepatitis C virus (HCV) outbreak last summer, the Sea Coast Online reports. Kerry Descoteau, RN, says technician David Kwiatkowski, who was her roommate and fellow employee, transmitted HCV to 32 patients as a result of injecting himself with patient medications to get high. However, she denies hospital allegations that she was materially involved with the outbreak and claims she was fired without further evidence or investigation. Exeter is standing its ground, saying they had “credible suspicion” that Descoteau contributed to the infections. Hospital attorneys say they intend to defend the case aggressively.
