Alcohol Use Disorder? Really? Using euphemisms to confuse a serious problem is not helpful. Call it what it is: ALCOHOLISM. AIDS is a disease. HIV is a condition. Mental Disorders are diseases. Alcoholism is a coping mechanism or street drug for a mental disorder. Alcoholism is NOT a disease for there is an end to it if one stops drinking alcohol. Please don't continue to excuse undisciplined folks for making BAD choices. Thank you.
Let's be honest. There's a significantly higher rate of alcoholism among homosexuals in general, as well as drug use. Maybe if there weren't, there wouldn't be so many cases of HIV. Alcohol weakens the will, and risky behavior is more likely in a drunken state.

"Worldwide" In many parts of the world alcohol is used differently than other parts, so that eschews the stats right there. Alcoholism isn't recognized as a problem in the same way. Drug abuse has always been higher in the gay community and let's face the facts, HIV is still a prevalent facet to that community therefore the numbers will be as they are. Then...."alcohol abuse disorder". Oh boy, that can cover a lot of ground. But do they all mean alcoholism?
